Closing a VFR Flight Plan:
On the ground: Call Flight Service immediately after landing with your call sign and location.
In the air: Call Flight Service via radio before you descend out of signal range if landing at an airport without communication facilities.
Time limit: You must close a VFR flight plan within 30 minutes of your estimated time of arrival to avoid triggering search and rescue operations.
