Women Airforce/Army Service Pilots (WASP)

WASP started out as two separate organizations. Pilot Jacqueline "Jackie" Cochran wrote to the First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, in 1939 to suggest the idea of using women pilots in non-combat missions. Cochran was introduced by Roosevelt to General Henry H. Arnold, chief of the Army Air Force, who asked her to ferry a bomber to Great Britain in order to generate publicity for the idea of women piloting military aircraft. Their purpose was to free male pilots for combat roles during World War II.

Strike Fighter Squadron 14 (VFA-14) "Tophatters" are a United States Navy fighter attack squadron, and are the Navy's oldest active squadron, having formed in 1919. Their callsign is Camelot, and their tail code is NG.
Over the years the squadron has been assigned many different missions, including patrol and observation, scouting, attack, fighter, bombing, and forward air control missions. The squadron adopted the classic Top Hat as its squadron patch and called themselves the "High Hats".
