In light of recent non scientific findings, economic crises, and impending bankruptcy...multiple airlines around the world are exploring the idea of removing all on board oxygen masks for cabin passengers, and the use of masks for flight crew optional.
It was a traditionally held belief that carrying O2 masks on board increased passenger safety, and for many years the airline industry spent billions on the design, installation, and maintenance of on board O2 systems in the delusional pursuit of a higher level of operational safety.
This belief ran so deep, that Governmental laws were implemented to force the installation, and utilization by flight crews, accompanied by a propaganda like single sided indoctrination to naive passengers before the commencement of each and every flight.
Over 200 people have climbed Mt Everest without the use of supplemental Oxygen. Everest, known as the worlds highest mountain, reaches a height of 30,000 feet. The very same altitudes flown by many airliners whom are forced to carry emergency oxygen systems, yet these climbers did it only using the body's naturally capable, and adaptable lungs.
The truth is, the odds of a loss of cabin pressure at altitude, statistically speaking is extreemly insignificant. Most pilots can spend their entire career never having an in flight pressurization issue.
In 2019 there were over 40 million flights worldwide. In that same year, there were less than 100 aircraft incidents involving depressurization. 40,000,000 flights, and only 100 incidents necessitating the use of O2 masks. Is there really a problem here?
The use of supplemental O2 does not guarantee survival, nor will it protect you in the event of an aircraft accident.
Those passengers greatest at risk during a loss of cabin pressure, are most likely the elderly, and those with preexisting pulmonary conditions. Younger and more medically fit passengers would be expected to be more resistant to oxygen deprivation without long term complications.
Portable oxygen supplies for cabin crew are not even suitable substitute for medically-necessary therapeutic oxygen. Even in an emergency, they not provide enough oxygen to overcome Dalton's Law. Meaning, even if you have an actual medical issue, on board aircraft emergency systems will not, and could not offer any kind of measurable assistance.
It's all in the science folks…40 million flights, and only 100 incidents, yet we spend billions on O2 equipment forced upon us by those with other unknown nefarious agendas.
Not only is the perpetuation of this hoax costly, and unnecessary, but the placement of Aircraft oxygen-generating equipment can even pose a significant fire hazard, and have already caused multiple documented cases of inflight fire due to exothermic chemical reaction.
We are forced to comply with aviation regulations created by fear mongering aerospace companies, which are not only costly, inconvenient, and time wasting, but are little more than a covert governmental political control method that is no longer welcome.
